Canberra City Research Project – Altina Drinks

Canberra City Research Project

The number of Canberrans who drink regularly is decreasing, with over 55% drinking less than weekly or not at all. Most Canberrans supported the idea of reducing alcohol harm in the community, and around 60% want more alcohol-free public events and alcohol free zones. These data show that there is a demand for unique and memorable activities, experiences and environments that help people drink less while still being social. “Mindful drinking” is about moderating drinking habits – this might mean not drinking at all, drinking fewer drinks, choosing lower alcohol options or having alcohol-free days or sprints. But how are great mindful drinking activities, experiences and events created?

That’s exactly what we’re trying to understand with this project. This is your chance to tell us about your experiences and ideas so we can work together to create innovative and exciting offerings, events and experiences for you. You can get involved by taking our short survey, by participating in one of our design thinking sessions or testing out some ideas in one of our experiments!

We're also engaging with businesses owners and decision makers in the CCMIL area to understand your views and the barriers and challenges to providing alcohol-free options. Get in touch to speak about how we can work together to run some experiments!

This project has been made possible with support from the ACT Government under the City Renewal Authority’s City Grants program.
