L-Theanine

100 mg per glass (200 mg in two glasses)

What it is: An amino acid found naturally in green tea.

Why it matters: Research shows that 200–400 mg of L-theanine can promote relaxation without drowsiness, and help with focus and mental clarity.

What the science shows:

  • L-theanine crosses the blood–brain barrier and influences neurotransmitters including GABA, dopamine, and serotonin, which are linked to calm and focus.
  • Randomized controlled trials show that doses in the range of 200–400 mg can reduce stress responses and promote relaxation without drowsiness.
  • L-theanine has also been studied for its ability to improve attention and mental clarity in both relaxed and stressed states.
